Product Overview (PlateRite HD 8900 Series)

Screen’s new flagship 8-up thermal platesetter has been engineered for maximum quality, flexibility and productivity. The PlateRite HD 8900 series features three models that represent a great leap forward in the evolution of Screen CTP. In addition to substantially higher throughput, the PlateRite HD 8900 incorporates enhancements in a number of areas, including a wider plate range and support for 3D printing.

The PlateRite HD 8900 handles plate sizes from 12" x 12.1" to 45.8" x 37.4".

Multi-channel imaging heads based on grating light valve technology (GLV) ensure exceptional throughput. Imaging resolutions of 1,200, 2,400, 2,438 and 2,540 dpi are standard. An option for imaging plates at 4,000 dpi resolution also is available.

The PlateRite HD 8900E exposes 33 plates per hour when using 40.5" x 31.4" plates at 2,400 dpi. With the PlateRite

HD 8900S, it is possible to produce 43 plates per hour under the same conditions. The E and S models offer a 4,000 dpi high-resolution option that uses ultraprecise AM halftone dots. This option supports extremely detailed output for high-resolution art printing and accurate reproduction of the small text sizes required for bonds and other certificates. Installation of the 4,000 dpi option enables the output of high-resolution plates for 3D lenticular printing.

The high-capacity PlateRite HD 8900Z has a 1,024-channel imaging head that outputs more than 65 plates per hour. Screen’s GLV technology maintains quality when running at top speed, providing a new level of added value for clients.

There is a 9% reduction in power consumption per plate during operation of the PlateRite HD 8900 models. A power-saving standby mode cuts power usage by 85% when the platesetter is idle.
