The PlateRite News 2000 series provides reliable, compact, high-quality and highly productive thermal output. Screen has developed four models in the series to give newspaper publishers and printing companies greater flexibility in choosing a CTP solution.
On the upper range of productivity are the PlateRite News 2000S+ and PlateRite News 2000S, which feature a 64-channel laser diode exposure head. The midrange PlateRite News 2000E incorporates a 32-channel exposure head. The PlateRite News 2000E/S/S+ produce plates from 11.5" x 18.1" to 38.5" x 26.9". The platesetters are engineered for single or dual plate loading, so two broadsheet plates can be loaded simultaneously. Four standard image settings — 1,000 dpi, 1,016 dpi, 1,200 dpi and 1,270 dpi — offer a choice of resolutions.
The PlateRite News 2000S+ delivers 106 broadsheet plates or 49 double-wide plates per hour, making it Screen's fastest thermal platesetter. The PlateRite News 2000S images 84 broadsheet plates or 41 double-wide plates per

hour, while the PlateRite News 2000E outputs 58 broadsheet plates or 26 double-wide plates per hour.
Smaller newspaper printers find the entry-level PlateRite News 2000LE to be the ideal unit for the size of their operations. The PlateRite News 2000LE produces 26 plates per hour when using 35" x 23.2" plates. It has a minimum plate size of 18.2" x 18.2" and offers 1,200 dpi resolution. It can be upgraded to higher plate-imaging speed right at the user's facility.

Screen's automated CTP workflow solution designed specifically for newspaper production provides all the functionality needed to streamline the digital output of plates in a newspaper prepress environment.
